IBM -- the Official Cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI) partner for the Recording Academy® -- is bringing back “GRAMMY® Insights with IBM Watson” for the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards® red carpet livestream, to deliver surprising and engaging information to fans about their favorite artists. IBM will use AI to retrieve insights from more than 20 million news articles, blog posts and GRAMMY.com sources to generate artists’ insights for hundreds of current and former GRAMMY nominees and winners, surfaced on screen in real time as they walk the red carpet Sunday, April 3 beginning at 5 p.m. ET.  This year for the first time ever, GRAMMY Insights with Watson will also be integrated into hundreds of individual artist pages, now live on GRAMMY.com.

IBM Consulting worked closely with Recording Academy, employing the IBM Garage methodology to accelerate business innovation and transform the fan experience of the GRAMMYs® by delivering AI-generated artist insights throughout the digital platforms.  IBM Watson’s natural language processing products, including IBM Watson Discovery, are used to mine millions of news articles, GRAMMY.com, Wikipedia and more, identifying the insights that will be the most relevant and engaging to music fans. The technology solution automates the production of relevant content and scales the expertise of the Recording Academy editorial team, allowing them to deliver a more compelling digital experience quickly and efficiently.

The GRAMMY Awards is a cultural moment that brings together the biggest artists, celebrities and influencers to celebrate and foster a love of music with the world. Now in the fifth year of their partnership, the awards show provides a unique opportunity for IBM to showcase AI and cloud technology in the context of music with GRAMMY Insights with Watson.
