Senior Vice President and Chief Global Affairs Officer
Jonathan Adashek is IBM's Senior Vice President and Chief Global Affairs Officer.
In this role, he leads IBM’s efforts to advance its technology and responsible business priorities in areas including AI, open source, digital sovereignty, infrastructure and quantum, while strengthening trust, advocacy and engagement among external stakeholders. He oversees a global organization spanning brand and communications, public affairs, business development, corporate social responsibility, and IBM’s portfolio of sports and entertainment partnerships.
Jonathan joined IBM in 2020 as Chief Communications Officer and was appointed head of Marketing in 2022, bringing the two disciplines together under a unified strategy and brand platform. He led the transformation of marketing into a more modern, AI-enabled organization, placing clients at the center of its approach. In 2025, he spearheaded IBM’s Let’s Create Smarter Business campaign, building on Let’s Create to deliver a more cohesive and integrated expression of the IBM brand worldwide.
Jonathan's background in leading global teams has helped foster an agile and collaborative culture. Before joining IBM, he worked at the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance in Paris, where he served as Alliance Global Vice President, Communications. His prior positions include: Chief Communications Officer at Nissan Motor Co. in Yokohama, Japan; General Manager, Communications Strategy at Microsoft; and Executive Vice President and Global Client Relationship Manager at Edelman — where he worked with a variety of clients including Microsoft, Starbucks, Walmart, and the Abu Dhabi and United Arab Emirates governments.
Jonathan brings nearly 30 years of experience across domestic and global teams serving different sectors, including technology, automotive, manufacturing, government, retail, finance, and energy, across the B2B and B2C landscape. He also brings governmental and political experience, having worked in the Clinton Administration White House and Treasury Department, as well as on multiple U.S. presidential campaigns.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Jonathan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
