IBM has been recognized as a market leader in Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) by the independent research and advisory firm Verdantix, with IBM Maximo Application Suite (IBM Maximo) receiving top marks in the new report "Green Quadrant: Enterprise Asset Management Software 2024."

IBM Maximo -- an integrated software suite for intelligent asset management, monitoring, predictive maintenance, and reliability -- received the highest average scores for technical and functional capabilities. IBM Maximo also received the highest possible score in multiple categories, including "platform interoperability & integrations,” “platform - development environment,” “inspections,” and “energy management.” The Verdantix report evaluated 14 vendors across 27 criteria.

The October 2024 report notes IBM Maximo’s “industry-leading functional capabilities” and “seamless integration with performance-related modules.” The report also acknowledges IBM Maximo’s use of AI, noting “IBM’s market-leading EAM suite interweaves maintenance procurement and performance with trailblazing AI.”

IBM Maximo’s distinction comes at a time when EAM is growing in importance and urgency. Enterprises across a range of industries are eager to better maintain and control operational assets and equipment in order to reduce costs, increase sustainability, remain compliant, and lessen their environmental impact. Verdantix defines EAM as “Enterprise-scale software that enables firms to maintain physical assets throughout their life cycle to increase asset availability and uptime.”

The distinction also comes at a time of internal growth: Today, IBM announced the acquisition of Prescinto, a leading provider of asset performance management (APM) software-as-a-service (SaaS) for renewables. The acquisition of Prescinto will enhance the capabilities of IBM Maximo and further IBM’s leadership in the energy and utility space.

Earlier this year, Verdantix named IBM Maximo a leader in Asset Performance Management (APM) in the report “Green Quadrant: Asset Performance Management Solutions 2024.” IBM is the only vendor to be named a leader in both the APM and EAM reports.
