The Weather Company and Grupo Media Capital Align to Provide Comprehensive, Local Weather Information, Content and Marketing Solutions in Portugal

With their often optimal climate, the Portuguese are extremely fond of weather. To further enhance their robust weather programming, The Weather Company, an IBM Business, is now working with Grupo Media Capital, one of the leading media companies in Portugal – which includes the leading TV station in Portugal, TVI, the No. 1 radio station in the country, Radio Comercial and the largest digital audience on MCD – to offer customized weather content and forecasts to millions of people across Portugal.
The Weather Company will provide hyperlocal weather data and forecasts, as well as customized weather content across the various Media Capital properties, such as digital properties for news channel TVI24. Additionally, Grupo Media Capital will provide local articles, video and photo content within the Portuguese versions of The Weather Channel app and website weather.com.

This alliance will also provide marketers access to advanced data-driven advertising solutions from IBM Watson Advertising across Weather’s local properties. Advertisers will also have access to WEATHERfx, a targeting capability that leverages Watson Advertising’s real-time data to provide deep insights that can help predict consumer behavior, enabling marketers to determine the optimal time and place to reach a consumer.
Named the most accurate forecaster in the world by a third-party forecast analyst, The Weather Company uses advanced forecasting paired with machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to provide relevant weather information for 2.2 billion locations every 15 minutes to help people make more informed daily decisions based on weather.
