IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Red Hat today announced a new program providing Lightwell at no charge to over 185 leading research universities and 100 major nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and think tanks. Eligible institutions can access Lightwell’s library of validated fixes for open source software vulnerabilities, helping them secure the software and focus resources supporting research, education, humanitarian programs and other public-interest work.

Available now, Lightwell Network gives enterprises access to a launch catalog of 6,500+ remediated, digitally signed, and certified application-layer dependencies across major ecosystems, including Java and Python. Lightwell Clearinghouse Premier enters a limited-availability phase, serving as a trusted intermediary for secured patch embargoes and vertical threat coordination.

Deloitte, IBM (NYSE: IBM), and Red Hat today announced a collaboration to help protect the software supply chain against increasingly automated cyber threats. Deloitte joins the initiative as an integration collaborator for Lightwell, bringing its broader secured software supply chain architecture and cyber risk services to the large-scale enterprise open source security model deployed by IBM and Red Hat.
